Easy Cabbage and Peas Masala
This simple stir-fry of cabbages, peas and onions is tasty and makes a good side dish for roti or rice. My mom used to make this in the microwave for my office lunch. This stir-fry is ready in a jiffy and is easy to make for busy-workday meals.

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and when they crackle, add the chopped onions and green chillies.
  2. Add a little salt and stir-fry until the onions are soft and change color.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage and peas and mix well.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder and the garam masala and mix well to combine.
  5. Add the water and add some more salt. Mix well and close the pan with a lid. Cook covered for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Microwave Recipe:

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, put the oil , cumin seeds, chopped onions and green chillies. Microwave on 800W for 3 minutes.
  2. Into the same bowl, add the cabbage, peas, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, water and salt to taste. Mix well and microwave covered on 700W for 8 to 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
